Fall means children are back in school and back in sports, so it’s the perfect time for parents to learn about injury prevention, preparing healthy meals on the go, and more.  The Dayton Metro Library, in conjunction with Dayton Children’s Hospital, is offering “Top Tips for a Safe and Healthy Sports Season,” a free program taking place at several Library locations this fall.

Ashley Stanko, Sports Medicine Marketing and Business Development Manager at Dayton Children’s Hospital, will talk about these topics and more as part of the Dayton Metro Library’s Be A Reading Hero initiative, which brings first responders and families together at the Library for informative new programs.

Top Tips for a Safe and Healthy Sports Season” takes place:

Thursday, 9/11, 6:30-8:00 p.m. – Northmont Branch, Englewood, 496-8950

Monday, 9/15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. – West Carrollton Branch, 496-8962

Monday, 9/29, 6:00-7:00 p.m. – Wilmington-Stroop Branch, Kettering, 496-8966

Monday, 10/6, 6:00-7:00 p.m. – Vandalia Branch, 496-8960

Saturday, 10/11, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Miamisburg Branch, 496-8948

ABOUT DAYTON METRO LIBRARY

The Dayton Metro Library is one of the oldest and largest public library systems in Ohio, consistently ranking among the best in the nation. The DML consists of 20 branch locations in MontgomeryCounty, Outreach Services and the Main Library in downtown Dayton. In order to fulfill its mission to inform, inspire and enrich the community, the DML offers programs, materials and services for all ages and stages of life. It is funded in part by a portion of the state income tax and local levy support.

Specialized services and resources are available for schools, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, literacy providers and job seekers. The library houses a unique collection of local history materials. Computers are available free of charge for public use and computer instruction is available at many library locations.

In November, 2012, MontgomeryCounty voters passed a $187 million bond issue to fund new construction and renovations for the DML. Highlights of the multi-phase, multi-year project include consolidating branches from 20 to 16, establishing an offsite operations center and completely renovating the Main Library. When the project is complete in 2017, library users will enjoy modern, efficient facilities providing superior services and technology for the 21st century. Progress on the project is posted regularly on the DML website atDaytonMetroLibrary.org.
